Heather Summe, MD

Dr. Summe is a board certified dermatologist who specializes in medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology. She cares for both adult and pediatric patients. After completing her undergraduate studies with honors at Georgetown University, she completed a master’s degree in nutrition science at Columbia University. In 2012, she received her medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honor society and received the Glasgow Rubin Academic Achievement Certificate awarded to women who graduate in the top ten percent of their medical school class. She then completed her internship at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital in New York City before returning to UMass to complete her dermatology residency. During her final year of residency, she served as chief resident. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a member of the Society for Pediatric Dermatology. She has given lectures on acne, eczema and skin cancer and been published in a number of journals and textbooks. Her clinical interests include (but are not limited to) skin cancer, acne, skin discoloration, hair loss, psoriasis, vitiligo, excessive sweating and signs of aging. She performs various cosmetic treatments including Botox, fillers, chemical peels, sclerotherapy and laser treatments. She is conversational in Spanish and enjoys travelling with her husband in her spare time.
